How to Purchase Our Classroom Edition©

STEPS TO OBTAIN A PRINTED "Classroom Edition©" OF NFPA 72, 2007.

STEP #1.  Send us the electronic receipt from your purchase of NFPA 72's PDF, 2007 edition.  If you don't already own one, then purchase your electronic PDF version of NFPA 72 from NFPA's website.  You may purchase one for yourself or your office at NFPA’s website. or www.nfpa.org/catalog/.  If you wind up at the webpage showing the 2010 edition, locate “Choose another edition:” near the top of the webpage and from the drop-down box, choose “2007”.  This is the edition year that NICET and most states are currently using for licensing and certification.  NFPA's product ID is:   72-07PDF

Under “Version” choose “PDF”. (NFPA will automatically send you your receipt as soon as your credit card is processed.)

STEP #2.  Check your e-mail for the electronic receipt and choose “Forward” in your e-mail and re-send a copy to us at sales@firealarm.org.  We MUST have this receipt as proof of you having the right to print a paper version.  We do not sell or re-sell any of NFPA’s standards.

STEP #3.   Purchase our HIGHLIGHTED printing service.  GO TO SHOPPING CART or use the Purchase buttons below.

WE OFFER A PRINTING SERVICE for those individuals or offices that are licensed owners of a .pdf version of NFPA 72, 2007.  The 2007 edition is the edition NICET on which many states currently base their exam requirements.  [When NICET begins using the 2010 edition, we will offer that in a highlighted Classroom Edition© as well.  E-mail us at sales@firealarm.org if you wish to be placed on the notification list.

Licensed owners of the electronic (.pdf) version of NFPA 72 are permitted by NFPA to print paper copies “for in-house use”.  You may also choose to pay someone else to do it for you.   That is where we come in, and our Classroom Edition©.

We are offering to print your .pdf  version for you, with our custom changes imposed over the original text, for a fee.

[Note: We do not sell or re-sell any of NFPA’s standards.  The highlighting is done electronically  - not  'by hand'.]

Even if you print it yourself, it still won't be free.

Think of it this way;  it will cost you money to make a printed copy of your electronic .pdf book.  You have two choices; You can pay your office staff to go out and buy quality paper (and you will pay for more than you’ll need), pay for the time it takes to do the printing, pay for the color ink, the black ink, electricity, plus wear and tear on your printer.  After it is printed you will send them out again to have the holes drilled so it can be placed in a three-ring binder.  Or you can pay us to do it for you.  But, either way, NFPA gives you the right to choose who and how your book will be printed.  We suggest you hire us to print your book.  Hire us and we include our custom highlighting, icons, and use brighter, heavier paper.

Fire Alarm Training Instructors should contact us for details on how to supply your next class  with this special printing of NFPA 72, 2007.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Note that the printed Classroom Edition© version you will receive from us will not contain your name at the top of each page.  Instead it will show the license owner as being “www.FireAlarm.org”.

The name NFPA places at the top of each page in your PDF is determined at the time of purchase.   Your electronic version and anything YOU print locally, will display this name on each page.   We just want you to know that when WE print your book will display “www.FireAlarm.org.”  Review the top margin of our sample page.   This is what we must print on the top of each page of your Classroom Edition©.

IS IT LEGAL TO MAKE COPIES OF THE CLASSROOM EDITION©?

No. We have filed a copyright registration with the federal government for our symbols and highlighting scheme.    It is actually cheaper to use our printing services than it is to make color copies.  Our printed editions are always in color and illegal copies are easy to spot.  A hidden marking is placed on each printed copy we sell to ID the original purchaser.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY HIGHLIGHTED EDITION?

We will sell you a replacement.

WHAT IF MY PC CRASHES AND I LOOSE MY PDF VERSION?

The NFPA website states that you are to call them. (Presumably, they will authorize you another license.)

IS USING A PRINTING SERVICE LEGAL?

Yes. We have had many conversations with NFPA's copyright attorney about our plan to offer printing services for licensed owners of .pdf  versions.  (In fact, we briefly kicked around the idea that NFPA would offer this “Classroom Edition©” on their own website.)  Remember:  We offer a printing service for those individuals or offices that are licensed owners of a .pdf version of NFPA 72, 2007.  We do not sell copies of NFPA standards; we are only offering to print your licensed electronic (.PDF) version for you, which includes our highlighting and visual recognition icons, etc.
