WHAT IS THIS "CLASSROOM EDITION" OF NFPA 72?

A Classroom Edition is our custom printing of your electronic version of the National Fire Alarm Code sold by NFPA. It has the following two basic features.

Highlighted Text. It is printed with custom highlighting of its text to denote key words, numeric values, and other strategic information contained in the standard. Information needed by those taking an open-book exam (i.e. NICET) or those wishing to have visual aids in locating code references.

Visual Cues. The margins have small color icons printed in them to help locate information quickly. It is these visual cues that make it possible to 'speed read' the text to locate information much more efficiently. Many tests for fire alarm certification and licensing are timed and the ability to quickly locate information is crucial to success.

WHAT ABOUT THE PRINT QUALITY OF THE CLASSROOM EDITION?

	Our printing comes with color highlighting and color icons in the margins for quick visual reference to specific code sections.
	Our printing is on heavier paper (24 lb.) so the printing on the opposite side is barely noticeable.
	Our paper is a whiter paper (#96-97 US) than that commonly used in offices and is a noticeably brighter white than the actual $71.00 paper version sold by NFPA. You can see and feel the difference.
	All eleven Chapters are highlighted and have icons applied in the margins. The Annex/reference material (the non-code section of the book) is not highlighted and no icons are used.

FAQs:

Does NICET allow it to be used during their tests?

Yes. They have never not allowed a highlighted copy of a code or standard to be used. I have confirmed with the Director of NICET, that highlighted books are permitted in Pearson Vue test centers. He stated that their primary concern is with answers being marked in the books during the test, which would allow the questions to be identified later at home.

Does NFPA allow printing of the .PDF version of NFPA 72?

Yes. Their "License Agreement for PDF Files" allows printing of a personal copy for your own use.

Can I do an electronic search of NFPA 72 with my .PDF version I buy from NFPA?

Yes. You may search text as you would any PDF file. Also, hyperlinks are provided to the Annex information directly from the code section it pertains to.

Can I do any editing of NFPA 72 with my .PDF version I purchase from NFPA?

No, you cannot edit any of the text or illustrations.

The visual cues used in our Classroom Edition are the same as used in our Fire Alarm Systems Training software. Use them together to maximum retention.

Paperwork icon = Denotes any requirement for written documentation or required printed information:

Sometimes the Annex contains the answer you're looking for, but a lot of times it doesn't. This is the icon used to denote important information in the Annex: A lot of valuable time is wasted looking for answers in the code when it is actually found in the back half of the book, in the Annex material. Time is also wasted during a test looking in the Annex only to find no useful information for taking your exam. This icon often points to the answer's location.
